My family had a dog for 16 years. About 2 or 3 years ago my dog finally died :( My mom says shes going to get another one...but my dad is on the no side. We have looked on no kill shelters and found plenty of trained younger dogs that would be great just my dad still says no! Money isn't a problem neither is space. He always brings up vacations or when im at swim. How can I get him to give in and say yes??

You can't
If he doesn't want one he doesn't want one
Wait until you're 18
I'm assuming since your dog was 16 then you're around the same age and you can surely wait a few years
I was in same position as you. I am 13 and I have always wanted a german shepherd. My parents know how committed and eager I am to get a dog but they always said no. My dad is the one who doesnt want one the most. I have reasearched about german shepherds and told them that they are not all bad. My parents said that they are really expensive There is a lot to put before it though. I get good grades and do lots of chores. I had lost all hope. But out of the blue one day my dad told me when we sell our house and get a smaller one we will get a dog. I was completely shocked. So this shows that you must never give up hope on getting a dog. Keep at it and one day you may be surprised with your results. Before I heard the news I completely lost hope. I would show yor parents how eager you are, find out the reason they dont want one and think of a way to prove them that you can work around that reason. Don't nag them so much or they will get sick of the subject. I know exactly what you are going through. It made me sad to think id never be getting one. But now I am!!
Reasons for getting one:
You get exercise while walking them
Learn responsibility
Extremely Helpful
Company
Emotional councillor
Perfect Companion
Unconditional Love
Someone to spend time with when you are bored
They are great fun.
They change your life (in a good way)
Keep your hopes up and be positive about it. Maybe even ask for a smaller animal to prove your responisble enough .Don't loose hope. I shall keep everything crossed for you.
Hope I helped :)
you can't
Their house, their rules, they told you NO
How do you know money is not an issues? Are you looking at their bank accounts and decided they have enough to spend on a dog that you won't take care of?
You can't make him give. He doenst want a dog and that means no dog. The dog will have to be board and that is not cheap for when you go on vacations
Their house, their rules, they said no. Respect that
Parents house their rules
