Hey :) So I'm a grade 11 girl who plays rep and high school volleyball. I have my standing float serve, and I can place it well (I've been doing that consistently for like, 4 years now.). I learned how to Jump Float a year ago, and that's how i regularly serve now in games/tournaments. I almost have my jump (top spin) serve. I can toss it properly, and it's a good toss every time. My approach is fine (my coach said), but my serves just aren't going fast enough. It has top spin and many teams find it hard to pass, but it's not a fast serve... which it should be.
anyways, how can I fix that? By swinging my arm faster?
Thanks! :)

just think of the impact you have with your other serves and make sure you're connecting the same way (power and speed wise) as you would in your jump serve.
just sounds like you're not as assertive with your jump serve, which you shouldn't be if you're just learning.
Well, for the jump serve, you really have to remember that timing is key. If you like a high toss it makes it easier for you to time it, go for it. There isn't a set in stone way for a person to jump serve and it really depends on how you like yours. Me, I used to toss my low and go strait into my approach because it was better for my timing. As i got better, i tossed it higher so I can add some power and topspin in it. But before you go for the power, having good contact is the most important. You should keep you hand cuffed as if you were holding the ball. This will give it the power and topspin it needs to stay in the court. The best way I know if my jump serve was good is if it sounded like a loud slap, i felt my entire hand (fingers, palm, NOT WRIST) contacted the ball, and I notice that the ball had a good velocity and drop after i crossed the net. Good luck and Perfect Practice makes Perfect. Note: I've been working on my jump serve for 4 years and it still isn't where I want it to be yet
I'd just try to get more power or kind of hit like you spiking it just as a serve.
