it is relative to success, love, understanding, friendships, etc., etc., etc.
edit: maybe confused or uneducated... but if the girlfriend picks up a pot to throw, I call it common sense to get the H*** out of there. Common sense tells me if I can't sing, I need not apply for an opera singers job, Common sense tells me if my child is depressed, and maybe hurting themselves as a result, I need to intervene or seek help for them etc.
Is this correct thinking or is it knowledge? I don't need to be hurt to have the knowledge a pot might feel bad hitting my head.
Not at all, so there is really nothing common about it. Look at the world around you. Most people act as though they have no sense at all. Try explaining even the most simple thing to someone, and see how many times you have to break it down or repeat it just to find they still can't catch on.
Everyone has common sense but not everyone has the same quality of common sense. Common sense is common but lets say You're sitting as a trained operator in a Nuclear missile bunker. You're common sense would tell you not to put your coffee mug on the send Missile shoot button!
However the cleaner on her first day may put her mop and bucket on the same button............and bang! A country as just disappeared!

I would argue that yes it is.
I would say that common sense is relative to each individual's interpretation of what common sense encompasses or should encompass.
Common sense is not common.

I'm not sure if it's "real-itive" or not, but I definitely have some relatives who have none.
