Modeling Agencies Rochester Ny
They are a real agency but they are not owned by Wilhelmina. It is an independent agency that pays a licensing fee to be able to use the Wilhelmina name as an affiliate. However these agencies do not follow the same policies as Wilhelmina in NY, LA and Miami
I don't know anything about that particular agency but do know that other Wilhelmina affiliates around the country charge for things like classes, model camps, portfolio shoots, etc which the official Wilhelmina offices do not charge for
What I would ask them is for the names of models they represent who have gone on to be represented by Wilhelmina in NY. I would ask who their largest clients are then call those companies to verify they do book models through this agency
The problem with a market like Rochester is that there are not going to be many modeling opportunities to begin with as it's not a major model market, there are no national magazines (like Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, W) published there, there are no fashion designers headquartered there, they don't have Fashion Week twice a year, etc. Since there aren't many jobs, the agencies cannot survive on commission alone like they do in NYC so they will have to charge for things like photography, classes, etc in order to earn enough money to stay in business
And be aware that if you are in a market like Rochester, there is no guarantee of getting any work and I would imagine the majority of models won't make enough money through modeling to cover the cost of their comp cards and test shoots for their portfolio. But that's a risk every model takes - even if you were at Wilhelmina NYC there is no guarantee you would be booked on any jobs
No they take your money
