I am confused - please help. ..?
What would be the answer to 24-8/2x3
( / = divided by)
would it be 24 ??
Dont you have to do multiplication and division before you add or subtract [order of opertions] ?

If it's written like that, you have to use order of operations (BEDMAS)
24 - 8 / 2 x 3
= 24 - 4 x 3
= 24 - 12
= 12
Assuming there are no brackets in the original equation. If however, there are brackets implied to the right of the division:
24 - 8 / (2x3)
= 24 - 8 / 6
= (72 / 3) - (4/3)
= 68 / 3
= 22.667
The answer would not, under any circumstances, be 24.
Yes, the order of operations applies, although I did consider the possibility that if this were written in long-hand format it could be possible that the division were written as a fraction expression 28-8 over 2x3. This would seriously change your answer. In this case, you would subtract 8 from 24 (16) and (seperately) 2x3 (=6) to get 16/6. You then would simplify by diving both top (16) and bottom (6) by 2 (=8/3).
Otherwise, using order of operations, first divide 8 by 2 (=4), times 3 (12), and then subtract from 24 (=12).
Well, BIDMAS states brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition then subtraction. Taking this into account, you'd do:
8/2 = 4 (Division)
4 x 3 = 12 (Multiplication)
And 24 - 12 = 12 (Subtraction)
So, 24 - 8/2 x 3 = 12
12
Is it (24-8) / (2*3) ?
If that's the case then you do the parenthesis first, so (24-8)= 16 and (2*3)=6
Now you have (16/6)= (8/3)=2.6667
24-8/2x3
24-8=16 and 2x3=6
so
16/6=2.6666 or 2 and 2/3
Does that sound right?
24-8/2x3 ok
p().e(exponints).m(x).d(/).a(+).s(-). thats what you use.
8/2=4 24-4x3
4x3=12 24-12
24-12=12 the answer is 12.
your wrong This is probebly your homework or something isnt it? oh well
you have to do multiplication, then division, then subtract that answer from 24
24-8/2x3
=24-8/6
=24-1.33
=22.67
I think its 12
