i need someone to help me solve this math problem please!!
solve each linear system by substitution
2(2x - 1) - (y- 4) = 11
3(1 - x)-2(y - 3) = -7
PLEASE I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
1) Distribute:
4x-2-y+4=11
3-3x-2y+6=-7
2) lets solve the first one for y
-y=11-4+2-4x Multiply both sides by (-1)
y=-11+4-2+4x
y= -9+ 4x
3)substitute on the second equation
3 - 3x -2 (-9+4x)+6 = -7 and then solve for x
3-3x +18 - 8x +6 = -7
-11x = -7 -6 -3-18
-11x= -34 both sides X (-1)
11x=34
x=34/11
and substitute the value of x on either equations to get the value of y
First, distribute:
4x-2-y+4 = 11
3-3x-2y+6 = -7
Then, combine like terms:
4x - y +2 =11
-3x -2y +9 = -7
Then move all constants to one side, leaving variables on the other:
4x -y = 9
-3x -2y = -16
Then multiply one line to cancel out one variable:
(4x-y = 9) X -2
Giving you:
-8X + 2y = -18
The 2y's cancel, giving you
-8x = -18
-3x = -16
_______
-11x = -34
x = 34/11
Then plug x into one of the original equations (4x - y = 9, for example) to solve for y
2(2x-1)-(y-4)=11
4x-y=9
-y=-4x+9
y=4x-9
4x-(-4x+9)=9
4x+4x-9=9
8x=18
x=9/4(answer)
y=4(9/4)-9
y=0(answer)
Therefore, x=9/4 and y=0.
You use the same method to do the second one!!!
