so i have super intese period cramps. i can barely stand up straight. the only thing that works is taking 3 or 4 Ibfuofen, and sometimes that dosent even work. my mom is going to make a doctor appt for me, will they have to examine my vagina? (im 14 & a virgin) my friend went and they put her on birth control because of her cramps. my period is also super irregular like mine started today (16th) and last month it started the 2nd. they usually last 4-5 days. (Thank God.) and also does birth control stop your period or make it lighter? because my friend who just got is like one of those people who think they know everything and is like "they dont stop or lighten at all. just makes it regular." but another one of my friends who had it hers stopped while she took it. so yeah. what would they do, and what causes cramps?
thanks for the answers

The cramps are from your uterus actually tightening up and pushing the blood out. A lot of people who have bad cramping also tend to have heavier periods. A contributing factor is increased progesterone (a hormone) in your body at the time you get your period. Progesterone can cause GI bloating and cramping on top of the uterus cramping.
Your doctor most likely will not have to do too much of an exam "down there". A lot of times they can just look and tell that everything is looking as it should. Even if they do perform an exam, it will be super quick and painless. If anything hurts, just tell them and they stop. Don't worry about the exam. You'll have so many in your life, they will be routine to you before too long.
The birth control pills will make your period regular and they will also usually make it lighter. Some doctors have people take them continuously so they don't get their period, esp if they have really bad cramps.
The pill usually doesn't stop your period it does just regulate it and it will help with your period pains make them less intense.
I used to be the same, I used to get major back pains to the point I couldn't move and just wanted to scream and cry some people it's normal and get used to it like me I sucked it up for years until I got out on the pill. it's probably the best option for you my dear.
