Just musing over ideas for a story...which would be more interesting? Time traveling to a different time and place or a completely different parallel universe (Narnia, Alice in Wonderland).
Update:It doubled posted when I submitted my question. D8

Neither. Time travel has far too many plot holes. The earth moves, the solar system moves, the galaxy moves, and traveling through the 5th dimension doesn't drop you right back in the same spot.
Parallel/Alternate universes have the same problems. The character would take diseases, pollen, urine and feces contaminated with potentially foreign and dangerous substances, and those would be transported back and forth causing unforeseen consequences that never get properly addressed.
Now, an exotic place on Earth could work. The Amazon is largly unexplored and there are uncontacted tribes still there with no knowledge of the outside world, places like Easter Island or central Africa could house all kinds of plausible wonders and forgotten technologies, whatever. The suspension of disbelief requires a fair amount of realism that the things you mentioned woefully lack.
It depends how factual you are if you are doing time travel. If you get your facts straight concerning the time era, it would be interesting. The parallel universe thing...eh, unless you have a hella' alotta drugs like the guy who wrote alice and wonderland, good luck coming up with something that hasn't been done before.
the freewill vs. scientific determinism debate has long been settled, purely making use of logic its quite obvious. quantum mechanics and the uncertainty concept limits the quantity that we are able to assume concerning the universe. for the reason that we are able to cant understand the two a debris place and velocity we cant make certain the destiny on a quantum scale. yet as issues get greater the uncertainty concept ability next to not something. specific its impossible to think approximately each element occurring interior the universe (or maybe the instantaneous section) at any given time, so its impossible to foretell what's going to ensue. yet that doesnt advise that its not all waiting laid out. the whole direction of the universe has been laid out for the reason that some hundred thousand years after the huge bang. stars and galaxies began forming, quantum mechanics didnt advise as lots. its impossible to deny that each action interior the universe, no count if human or inhuman, is the effect of a reason. that reason, the effect of yet another. innovations are the effect of electric connections interior the innovations, that are the effect of nerve impulses, that are the effect of exterior stimuli, that's the effect of yet another and yet another etc. if it replaced into achievable to music the direction and gravitational/electromagnetic/kinetic effect of each macroscopic merchandise interior the universe shall we assume each thing that could desire to ensue. for sure that could desire to take alot of artwork, yet thats not the element. the element is that each thing is dependant on each thing else. its reason and consequence. first theres reason, then consequence, that consequence outcomes something else and turns right into a reason.
I think you mean alternate universe. And that would be easier because with time travel you have to get the historical facts right or make future historical facts believable. Travelling to an alternate universe you can pretty much make up the rules on your own.
Time travel to a different place and time although if there were a paralle Universe in which your conter part live it would be very interesting to see how they live and the choices they made that you did not make.
Definitely alternate universes, it's much more intresting to know what could HAVE happened then what WILL or HAS happened, plus you don't want to mess with the mechanics and technicalities of time travel.
didn't I just answer this?
hmm...
why the thumbs down?
as you can clearly see, I had just answered this question
