Well, we are assuming that our 'present' thoughts, or our 'present' experience, the experience which is at mere mind level, is the final authority to decide where we are!
The two dimensions, (time and space, to decide the "where") , are itself, in the first place, a creation of mind. That is why we find ourselves ONLY where our mind (thoughts) is ALWAYS!
Unfortunately, spirituality seeks to uncover this assumption first , and that presents the major hurdle onto a spiritual path. To those eager and open minds, a typical instance is that wonderful question, which does not even "insist" on deciding "where" (present-place of 'posting'), but seeks to be contended with 'how'.... (the 'how' question: http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201...
It's only conditionally true, not always true. Consider birth and death in this context, for instance.
By the way, when quoting others, it is only proper to give attribution. In this case it's James L. Allen who also said "A man is literally what he thinks".

False! Our thoughts can go anywhere. But we can' physically go there. Our thoughts are faster than lightening. So it is not easy to follow our thoughts. Thousands of thoughts flashes in our mind within a minute. We are not in a position to count and go according to them. Daily we are being shuttled between our work spot and home. We never thought of it. But we think about abroad and far of places, where we seldom fail to reach.
certainly true. Because You do what you think and what you do; defines your character and so your future. The statement will look TRUE to you if you have the thinking "work defines destiny" and will seem false if you think that life is like a movie created by God and nothing can be changed.
True and False indeed. Where your thoughts are depend on whose other thoughts you 'connect' with unless you are a Avatar searching and operating the world alone in your very own universe..? ;-)
False.
I agree that one should always have good positive thoughts, but one has no control on what will happen in future. One has to be prepared for all eventualities in life and not hope that good positive thoughts will ensure good times ahead.
This reminds me of another well-known statement, "Honesty pays." In my whole life experience, I have not found this to be fully true. However, I prefer to be honest to as great an extent as I can not expecting it to pay, but because I value it.
Depends what you believe, deja vu makes me feel that no matter what decision I make or how i try to be completely random that it has already been written thus you cant change your "destiny"
On the other hand, we do have power over our thoughts thus we do have power over our destinies.
We'll only know the real truth in the after life
False.
During meditational Zen states, there are no 'thoughts' to bring or take you anywhere.
What is, is! Every moment of existence!
There is no 'free-will/choice' other than as 'thought'!
What is, is! Every moment of existence!
True, if you identify with your perceived 'thoughts'.
'Thoughts' seem continuous, seem causal. It is only as 'thought' that the ego exists! No 'thought' = no 'ego', no 'you'! In 'thought', only, does 'time' exist; 'before' and 'after', 'causality'. It is, also, only as 'thought' that flying pigs and talking snakes and unicorns exist!.
The Universe is 'timeless' (other than as 'thought', of course)!
'Free-will/choice' depends on some moment of existence being 'otherwise'! Never, never in the existence of existence has (or can be) any moment ever been 'otherwise'! Ever! What is, is, and that's all that is or ever can be!
What is, (already) is!
Every moment of existence exists Now!
"The Laws of Nature are not rules controlling the metamorphosis of what is, into what will be. They are descriptions of patterns that exist, all at once... The four-dimensional space-time manifold displays all eternity at once." - Genius; the Life and Science of Richard Feynman
There is only one moment (Planck moment; 10^-43/sec; "almost" one billion trillion trillion trillionths of a second!!!) of the entirety of existence/Reality/the Universe!
All existence, ever, is one, literally, 'timeless' moment!
Now!
A 'moment' is a unit of perception!
"Reality is a synchrony of moments!"
False, you cant just think things, you have to make them happen...things dont just happen with our thoughts, and our thoughts do not make us who we are. But i agree that thoughts have an impact on our actions. However, i think our emotions and our spiritually guides us more in life than anything our brains make up
truth, we are not what we are thinking, what we are thinking is we are...james allen
thought makes man..gandhi..
even to achieve an transcending the mind we require an amount of thought that which is an initiative to practice the tools, so, today's thoughts are tomorrows investment.
