You must scientifically analyse unbiasly and be willing to accept the truth whatever it is.This would help you reach the 'real' right way of living.Did you know that scientists have discovered that men are designed to be polygamous by nature?The hormone oxytocin released only during love sex makes the man more emotionally attached to his wife but will also make his seek out more partners.Men have the right to more than one spouse.Society may not except this but Society is wrong.You must follow the trail of truth without deciding what the outcome should be like.Only then can you reach truth.However scientific analysis is not the only thing.One must also apply wisdom as well as emotional intelligence.If the facts promotes something then go for it.However if logic/facts has no say in it then you must apply wisdom and emotional intelligence.There is no scientific reason why siblings cannot have sex if they use contraceptives or a human to have intercourse with an animal but a wise person or even an emotionally intelligent person will know that it is still wrong.The question also arises whether to make Logical or popular choices.....what about the right choice.The answer is that Popular and even logical things aren't always the right choices. Sometimes it is better to do the wrong thing because of the evil that may result.If by practicing something that is actually right but society would behead you for it then it is better not to do so unless one can achieve greater good than the possible harm.If by going against society while following the truth you can facilitate change in it even in a small way then you must do it.Such are the ideals we must live by.
Because this is the philosophy section, everything said in this section must be subject to "reason" - that means that the questions, and especially the answers given, should always be an attempt that can be reasonably/rationally justified. This may sound simple, but if you take a close look at many of the answers provided, you will realize that this criterion is so often not met at all!! E.g. so often you will find that someone is personally attacked instead of his arguments being criticized in a rational way - all examples of the the informal fallacy called an "ad Hominem" argument.
false everyone is intitled but they are based on many different factors and unfortunatly logic and intelligence are not at the top of the list i agree they should be based on these principles im saying that there not and just because your intitled descretion should always be put into play as opinions once aired can never be taken back and more often than not generally speaking more battles have been fought just because of such differences and just because opinions vary it seems a no win situation as every opinion should carry merit it just doesnt work that way in todays society
I agree. Most people make their opinions based on this, but people have different definitions for reason logic and facts which can lead astray. Many people don't take these into consideration though.
False. I use the knowledge and Wisdom I have gained on personal experience and, that which is transcended through Consciousness, to type.
Sometimes I will look back on an answer I have given. Many times, I am totally blown away by the words used in my name. They are clearly not my words nor what I would say, but there it is in black and white. :D
Philosophy is about moving active critical thought, not consensus!!
Everyone is entitled to an opinion,
~~~ "Entitled"? By whom? Who can revoke the entitlement?
A simple statement; Most people have opinions, would suffice. (it is poor form to use "always" and "everyone" unless you are prepared to defend it right off the bat!)
but we still have a responsibility to form our opinions wisely, based on reason, logic, and facts.
~~~ The problem here is your (vain) assumption of 'free-will/choice'. It is an error that will fail your argument.
"Responsibility"? To whom?
Wisdom comes from grey beards, what do you do until then?
Man is not a logical, rational creature. That is merely a vanity.
We see what we must, think what we must, say what we must, do as we must... every moment!
I have no 'responsibility' to do any of the crap! But I don't judge myself and come up short, either!
I just speak as I must, you perceive as you must.
"The acceptance and understanding of other Perspectives furthers our acquaintance with Reality!"
It would be nice if it were true. Unfortunately, many people will form their opinions based on what they believe or what they think they know even when it is not rooted in reason, logic, or fact.
Of course, that is just my opinion based on what I believe and think I know.
True, if we posess that capability. Not everyone has come that far, some have a lot of catching up to do. Which raises another question, should we wait for them?
