turn garage door sensor into alarm?
I have a old garage door laser sensor, it has 2 wires, black and white. I would like to somehow connect this to a computer or something that can play a recorded message through speakers. For example, when somebody walks in the door and trips the laser, it says welcome.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Starting from the beginning. Such as I assume that one wire you need to somehow connect to a power source and the other I need to connect to some kind of switch.

A garage door intrusion would activate a motion detector sensor, similar to a motion light sensor that detects movement. It wouldn't work on sound or vibration unless you would have it installed that way.
You wouldn't want to have it set-up that way anyhow as it would be giving off false signals quite frequently. Basically, this would be something easy to install.
