Usually, there is no single event that causes a good cell to turn ‘bad’. Cells can mutate for a number of reasons – chronic irritation, inflammation, exposure to toxic chemicals, assault by a virus, damage from environmental factors for instance the sun’s rays, or ageing. However, a mutated cell is not necessarily dangerous because all of us have mutated cells in our bodies but we do not all have cancer. Once a cell has mutated enough to become precancerous, it can remain harmlessly in the body until a stimulus pushes it into malignancy. During this second stage of cancer development called ‘promotion’, the cell starts to multiply and begin the process of becoming a tumour. Treatments may include – Chemotherapy, Radiation therapy, Surgery, Angiogenesis inhibitors therapy (process of eliminating the blood supply to tumours), Biological therapies, Bone marrow transplantation and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, Gene therapy, Laser treatment, Photodynamic therapy, Targeted cancer therapies (which are drugs that block the growth and spread of cancer by interfering with specific molecules involved in carcinogenesis). With regard to a cure for cancer, some listed above have worked for some sufferers. Research continues, and I will add a link below about a cure that has hit no headlines, noted in January 2007, due primarily to the “profit syndrome” -

There is a "cure" to cancer. Many cancers can be full cured using chemotherapy. It is technically the cure to cancer. It really depends on if it works or not. For not as severe cancers they usually do 2 chemotherapy treatments a month for 6 months, and follow it with 2 weeks of radiation to make sure they got it all. And cancer is just a rapid growth of cells. Cells multiply and become harmful to the body, and eventually if untreated, they can spread to vital places such as the brain, heart, liver, pancreas, kidneys.. etc.

There are typically multiple types of cancer in the body. It's just a mutation of normal cells. Usually your body knows what is bad cells and kills them. Occasionally some get by and infiltrate your system. There are people who get cancer of the baby toe so that proves it can develop anywhere.
