TomTom 720 Portable car navigation system, Many tested , had a garmin but upgraded to a TomTom for the free map updates and more accurate maps, same map provider as Google maps (teleatlas) acquired by TomTom a few years back and the price per feature is probably the best.....Cheers....Red
TomTom are the most popular car GPS manufacturing company in the world...Garmins where good but the last two years or so they are losing ground on the ever popular TomTom units...
Over all there are so many positives that the others just don't have Map share (map updates free) POI,s software is always being improved Voices they don't make you pay for new voices...
One of the reasons they are able to keep the cost down is they own the map provider..Teleatlas the same one that Google uses...They went in a bidding war with Garmin and well they won and acquired TeleAtlas for there own, that one really hit garmin hard....well in a few more years it safe to say there probably won't be any Garmins...They tested the two map providers TeleAtlas (tomtom) and Navteq(garmin) and the TomTom owned provider TeleAtlas came out ahead, I put a link below..
Have a look at the web sight and awards they won for there innovative accomplishments and go out and buy the best TomTom...
Dylan's voice has taken on many identities through the years. Personally, I love them all. Every once in a while I listen to all of his albums in chronological order (all the way through Together Through Life). It's an amazing adventure. Nice to hear someone else enjoys his voice. Although I will say for some it is an "acquired taste". Peace.
You could say I'm in GPS heaven. I've got a built in in one car, a hand held for outdoors activity, and a portable automotive unit. Oh yes, my phone has GPS capability, but I seldom use it since it's not really user friendly. The built in car unit is annoying since as soon as the car is in motion, a lot of the functions become unavailable. I understand the safety/liability concerns, but then why just cripple the menus instead of locking them completely. In a lot of ways, my hand held is my favorite since it's small, light, accurate, portable and has mapping/routing capability.
i have portable and on my phone i prefer my portable it sticks in the window and has more features and is made for that... ive had garmin and tomtom and prefer the garmin
