Why do judges deserve/demand respect during court?

I just seen a video in which a girl who was on trial told a judge that her sentence didn't matter because she is from a rich family who could pay her way out of jail time. (Not word for word but you get the idea)

The girl being charged told this to the judge after the judge gave her a very light sentence, after making the statement she had made about being rich, the judge expressed that he felt disrespected and gave the girl more than triple her original sentence.

Now don't get me wrong, I do not approve of spoiled brats from rich families committing crimes under the idea that because they were born privileged so the law does not apply to them. If you commit a crime you should be punished fairly no matter what your social status may be.

But this judge already made up his mind about her punishment, I would assume what he originally believed to be fair and just, but after the girl opened her mouth he made her punishment much worse just for being a spoiled brat. Last time I checked this wasn't against the law.

But what I am asking is why do judges deserve so much respect in court? Is it because they had to undergo lots of schooling to become a judge? Is it just because of their title? Is it some sort of weird power trip thing that happens to you when you gain a position of power? Because if it just just because of how hard it is to obtain that title, then you can say that about alot of professions but they dont demand the respect in the same way that judges do. It must be a power thing right?
