I want to be healthy and my mom tells me to stop snacking all the time and to eat a lot when it's dinner. But other people says that it's better to snack in between meals because it speeds up your metabolism. My mom disagrees to that and tells me that snacking isn't good and that i should eat "real" food. So what is the best?

Your snacking on healthy food with protein and low sugar like Protein shake or nuts or chicken salad it will help speed up your metabolism. Snaking on high carb foods will not speed your metabolism and will store as fat if you eat to much and don't exercise. Nothing speeds up you metabolism like good old exercise tho. Small high Protien meals through out the day with no junk food and you'll be ripped
Many diet plans advocate for small frequent meals - 6 meals per day spaced no more than 3 hours apart. When you go long periods of time between meals it lowers your metabolism. If you eat crap 6 times a day, you will not lose weight. A good general rule is to pair a lean protein combined with a fruit or a whole grain carb, each about the size of your palm and to do that about 6 times/day. Eat as many veggies as you would like. If you do this and make sure that your portions are good on these 6 mini-meals, you will be eating between 200-300 calories per mini-meal resulting in a caloric intake between 1200 and 1800 calories/day which should put you at a reasonable weight. The more active you are, the closer to 1800 you can go, the more sedentary you are, the closer to 1200 you want to go.
And eating light during the day but eating a heavy dinner is probably the WORST thing you could do. Contrary to U.S. tradition, dinner should probably be one of our lightest meals of the day.
6 meals a day you're supposed to eat every 4 hours or so. With 6 meals don't make them huge portions. Try not to snack in between meals but if you must try something healthy(fruits are yummy). Make sure to eat breakfast with about 2 hours of waking up you slept all night so your body needs food and energy. Hope I helped :)
