My son no,longer takes a dummy he just don't like it anymore but now he has to have one blanket with him at all times if I try to give him another one he won't sleep he plays with if on the floor rolls around and chews on it so I guess my question is will I have trouble breaking him off his blanket?

Children naturally leave stuff like that behind if they have opportunities to be around other children of similar age, or a little older.
When he sees that the bigger boys don't drag blankets with them, he'll leave it with you.. for a while, but he'll pick it up again once back home. That's okay, let him separate gradually, and he'll be a lot more comfortable about it, and he'll trust you more - you are his Protector (it's best to minimize the frequency of traumatic events in a child's life, so no point in creating artificial ones)
He's fine. It's a comfort item. It's totally okay for kids to have comfort items. And okay for adults to have them, too.
