Im active duty at the moment and its only something you want to do when you and the sergeant have that kind of relationship. You dont want to go up to every sergeant and say "hey sarge" but I can speak for myself and alot of others that when you get to know your sergeant they have absolutely no problems with it.
The military is not like "computer games and movies" rank is earned and deserves respect if you had of called me "Sarge" (when I was a sergent in the cav) I would have made sure you never did it again

casually, no. if it's between you and your sergeant...maybe-ish. depends on the guy. you don't just go around calling everybody sarge.
sergeant is more respectful > just like the other comments suggested
I think for someone in the military, army ect. It would be disrespectful. The reason, because they earned the title.
