Jupiter

I tried to get my telescope to focus

I watched the planet with my naked eye

I wandered through Aquarius

my humble eyes so curious,

so small among the great expanse of sky.

It burned like any other star

on any other night

a dragonfly inside a jar

a fading, distant light.

And I'm the only one who knows

that you burn just as bright.
