Do you support employment non-discrimination law for sexual orientation & gender identity.......in the public sector?
at least your position "a private business should be allowed to do whatever it wants" is somewhat understandable...........but surely there's no excuse for the public sector (which is funded by tax payers including gay and transgendered people) to discriminate?
Update:scooter: They always make exceptions for certain jobs that require a certain gender; like actors and models.
Update 3:Whiskey: employers have fired people simply because they have identified themselves as "gay".........it is not what they do, but who they are.

I support "normal" in the workplace. What you suggest is abnormal. This nation has slowly been slithering to the gutter since the 60's. Not just gayness, but many other things as well.
.
If a guy wakes up and puts on a dress it is his choice and as such it is not discrimination to not hire him same with gays. I am not saying the liking the same sex is a choice I saying the acting on it is. And since the person chooses to act then because of the action is voluntary it can be discriminated against. Same with faith. Faith is a personal choice and as such it is not discrimination to not hire someone based on faith.
No one chooses to be born black, brown male or female handicapped or not but one does decide to act on the feelings of being gay or cross dressing or the decision to change gender.
Added: Yes and gay is an action like being a bankrobber. We all would love to rob a bank if would not get caught but being a bank robber and want to rob a bank are two separate issues.
Since when does the public sector discriminate?
Yes, the government should be of, by, and for the people. I don't think government should be a jobs program, but necessary jobs should go to qualified candidates regardless of race gender religion or sexual orientation. Private business should be for the owner, If he can afford to turn away business.. that should be his perogative.
I support the public sector discriminating on the grounds of professionalism and unprofessionalism.
I tried to help a gay man suffering from AIDS fight abuses from the fed, but some of the laws go to far. Equality means equality not to make up for otehr offenses. IN the fed, I've heard cases where gay men grab a janitors manhood, and got fired because he freaked and attacked him. As far as I'm concern unwanted touching warrants physical means to protect one's self.
They would have to. It's the public sector, you can't discriminate someone in the public sector.
And I see you changed your picture. I like this one better.
No.
Discrimmination laws are counterproductive.
Hooters needs to have the right to hire women who fit their restaurant theme, for example. In their case, the most discriminated group of people is men.
Forcing Hooters to hire women less endowed is no different from forcing Silicon Valley to hire less skilled.
As long as they don't harass or try to shove there beliefs on me or any other cowork, or if it doesn't effect the business position there working in(I know it's sad, but sometimes you can't have a transgender working as a cashier, it puts people off), I'll hire them.
