Palin is running behind Lincoln for cover in defense of her recent quotes using God in her speeches:
This is Lincolns quote:
"Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right"
And Palin's quote on US troops going to Iraq:
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God"
And this is Palin's defense in the Gibson interview:
"But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a REPEAT IN MY COMMENTS, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side.
Can someone tell me where this "repeat in my comments" is? I think it is horrifying that she is preversing one of Lincoln's greatest quotes and using it deceitfully for political advantage. This is in addition to what I feel is also blasphemy, inherently saying that God supports war.

What Lincoln said was great, but that's not what Palin said. She did not REPEAT it in her comment. Her comments have been publicly quoted and recorded. They sound nothing like what Lincoln said.
This is yet another example of Bush/Cheney and now McCain/Palin treating the American public like we are complete idiots and will simply believe what ever they say. And yes, she did dishonor Lincoln’s quote. What Lincoln said was very thoughtful and profound. Palin’s claim that it was a “repeat in her comments” is a blatant lie and a cowardly attempt to back peddle away from what she said by aligning herself with one of this nations greatest leaders.
I see your point. I think God is on the side of everyone living in peace and keeping people out of the holy wars. To say that the war is god's will is mixing church and state. Leave god out of this!

The answer was obviously prepped beforehand. I have seen the video and there is no way she was channeling Honest Abe in that speech. Moses, maybe, but not Lincoln.
She has insulted Lincoln by using him to LIE to the American people. She is not fit for the VP job, and she certainly proved it tonight. I expect more of the same in the next couple of days.

Well, Lincoln was also alive in a different time. People did not have much more than religion in those days and that makes a difference.

Why dont you give the full context of her quote?? she did not say our national leaders where sending the troops on a task from god, She said let us pray that this is a task from god.
No, she was indicating that Lincoln also prayed that God was on our side.If you would post HER complete quote you would get a much different picture of what she said.
