Directv Problem?
I cancelled my directv service b/c I moved to an apartment that does not allow it. Now I am being charged a
cancellation fee of 300 bucks even though on the directv site there used to be a document that stated if you move to an area unserviceable by directv, they would can cancel your service without charging you anything. I have looked on the site and I am unable to find the document now, does anyone know where it is? Any ex-directv employees out there that want to stick it to them one more time? HELP!
Update:No, it said on that document that it refers to a community structure (apartments) whereas guidelines restrict the placement of directv equipment on the premises. I do not lose, I am just slow at winning.

You don't understand the statement....If you move to an area that is unserviceable by direct TV...Means that it isn't possible to pick up the sattelite signal. It does not mean a residence that will not allow you to mount a dish on the wall.

I never heard of DTV not charging you a penalty for early termination if you moved into an unservicable apartment bldg. You need to check with someone. It is against the law for your building owners to forbid satellite tv. they have the right to have guidelines that must be followed by the installing tech, such as nothing attached to building or no holes to be drilled etc.... The tech can install on a tripod or in a bucket and bring cables through window or door with flatlink cable. If there is no way to get a signal due to line of sight from your apartment, then the tech needs to note your account with a no line of sight from apartment due to landlord restrictions. This should get you cancelled without a chargeback. Let me know how it turns out.
