I had a terrible canker sore about a month and a half ago, located inside of my mouth. Right above my front teeth and below my lip. So in that area. It was pretty big and was white in the middle and then red around it. It was pretty pain full. It healed after around two weeks. The pain went away and so did the white. SInce it has healed, it is still red. So it has been red for about a month or so. What does this mean? Did it leave a scar? Should I be concerned about it still being red even though it doesn't hurt?

Update:I just want to know if I should be worried, not what causes them.

That took a lot of time to heal, when ever you get a canker soar , make sure you stop using toothpaste that has tartar control in it, it prevents the soars from healing fast. A canker soar should heal within a week. If it's not the tooth paste, you have to see what else can be irritating it. Do you get them often, and in other areas of the mouth or not? If you get them to often, it's usually to do with your immune system. Several things that cause immune system to weaken, stress from work or life, to much exercise, not sleeping well at night. Only things that come to my head at the moment. It can be due to mineral deficiency, zinc is one of them.
Cold sore? outside of your mouth right? Every now and then I'll get one like that but after a while that mark will fade away. Try using some Mederma for scars a couple times a week but I bet it will fade in time
