So there's an issue about over hundreds of prisoners left to die in their cells during Hurricane Katrina and this has led to a very interesting question and that is whether criminals deserve help. Of course they deserve help - i don't see how this could possibly be a question. They deserve no more punishment than they were sentenced to and it is a moral imperative to protect them from anything that goes beyond that.Someone who is in prison e.g. because he couldn't pay a parking ticket most definitely does not deserve to be left to die in there, just as an extreme example.
