There are many, many different species of fly. 'fruit' flies are different from 'normal' flies.

No they are a totally different species. Why not save some and see for yourself. Also many scientists use them in experiments because of their quick life cycle, notice when you have a regular house fly them seem to be there forever! You may have both types of flies in your basement, regular flies like rotting food or recently gone bad food, see if you have any of that in your basement.

fruit flies are another specie than the flies you call normal flies ,and the fruit flies will be upset that you do not consider them normal

and insects do mix with other ones, if there is food around for them ,several species of flies can be found in one place at times.

well I don't think horses get house flies and houses don't get horse flies and its not may so you don't have may flies your not a dragon so you don't have dragonflies so unless you have fruit in the basement you probably have baby house flies
