Madeleine Crum, of Huffington Post, posted an article about this recently and showcased some sexy hardcovers like the ones in the link above. I'd link to the article and intriguing showcase but I've discovered that Yahoo censors any questions that link to Huffington Post and certain other competitor sites.

Ooh, those are pretty covers. :) I appreciate good design, including on book covers.
But, no. I read purely for my own entertainment (and occasionally for my education). The majority of the books I read are on my Nook anyways, so it's not like anyone can see the cover of what I'm reading.
I myself treat books as a resource (the books I choose to read, anyway),, but I do know some people who acquire books that are merely to make some sort of presentation that hey are intelligent or have some sort of individual interest, yet have not even read any of them. A favorite quote of mine is: "the person who does not read is no better off than the person who can't read."
It's hard for me fathom what this world would be like without books.
I do find it interesting, and even annoying, that yahoo (or any site) censors what someone chooses to post, considering that there are so many ways around it. It is not like allowing a link to another site is going to destroy them. After all, isn't it all a "network"?
Sometimes the look of the cover will be the initial thing that attracts me to it. But I'd never buy a book just to own it because it looked cool. I'm only interested in books that I want to read. That's sort of the point. If the story is amazing, I don't really care if the cover is interesting or not. And when I buy books and keep them, I keep the books I liked, and get rid of ones I didn't, regardless of the cover.
Why the generalization? This American Christian does not see the bible as a self-help e book. in spite of the undeniable fact that there is a great number of understanding interior the Bible to avert particularly some the themes human beings run into in the present day. Examples comprise: do no longer bypass into debt, do no longer drink to get under the effect of alcohol, do no longer make hasty judgements on substantial concerns, do your ultimate in all you do, very own up on your duty... and the checklist retains on going. in case you maintain on with those policies, you will no longer choose the self help books.
Well, those are very pretty covers.
But no, of course not. I treat books as a form of entertainment. I read because I love reading. I'd carry a book around so I won't get bored when I travel, not because I want it to suit my clothing.
Well, I do sometimes just stand in front of my bookshelf admiring my books. They just look so...pretty there. ;;) I also try to keep it as good as new. I freak out when there's a tiny bit of destruction such as a little page ripped or the edge of the book is dented or something.
more like Nicknacks since I don't buy clothes to match them.
Many I buy because I liked listening to the podiobooks.com book and want to see them on my bookshelf
Showcase is a better word then accessory
O_o that's weird...
No, I don't treat books as though they're bracelets. That's... odd. I'm not buying books just so I can look cool, but because I want to read them.
