Asthma has absolutely nothing to do with your throat. It is a swelling of the lining of the airways in the lungs. While doctors can see many of the physiological changes that happen to your lungs because of asthma (scarring, mucus build up, etc.) they can not see the inflammation itself. I am not sure what type of doctor you are seeing. It sound to me that if you are seeing a general practitioner you should ask for a referral to an asthma & allergy specialist. There are specific breathing tests used for determining asthma that a GP would not necessarily do or fluently interpret. Your symptoms could also be allergies - yet another reason to see a specialist. Good luck.
