I'm telling you now that it will burn both. With the proper diet and exercise you can minimize muscle lose while maximizing fat loss. Go look at Bodybuilding.com and go to "Find a plan". They have Muscle building programs and fat lose programs, as well as programs that do both over the course of several months. But in the end, you cannot grow muscles without getting some fat on you (which can also be minimized) the same way where you can't lose fat without losing a little bit of muscle. Just remember that it isn't that much.
