If I live in US but work in Canada, do I need buy a separate Canada auto insurance in addition to my US auto insurance for daily commute into Canada from US (cross the border everyday)?
Or can I just use my US auto insurance to cover my everyday driving in Canada as well?

Yes. You are using your car for work, not as a tourist.
You'll be filing for income tax twice, of course, in spite of your work visa.

No, your US based insurance is sufficient. The need for insurance, and how much to have, is based upon where you reside.
If you were smart though, in my opinion, I would ask the insurance company if you should have more because of the nature of your commute. You most likely will not however if I were you I'd find out now before you have an accident and learn the hard way (if it's needed).
I would call my insurance company before hand and check if there's any extra coverage I needed to buy for your situation, but you only need insurance from the place in which the car is registered...you don't need to buy insurance twice.
