I put my car in the shop today thinking that I would have it back by in less than five days for my trip to Mexico (I live in so. cal). My car was hit and the other drivers insurance is covering my renting fees. the contract also says I have no mileage charges, but that I can only drive in CA.. The guy in the shop said my car won't be ready until next week, not in time for my trip.. I'm thinking of taking the car in to Mexico and wondering if enterprise uses gps tracking devices on their cars. I'm not looking to find some crazy fees upon my return. I've heard of other rental companies use tracking systems but not enterprise.. Does anyone know if they use these tracking systems or not??
Update:I drive to Mexico, just over the border about 8 times a year, never have they ever checked insurance or even vehicle registration going into or out of Mexico. Where I'm going is just 15 minutes past the border, right off the role road

And what are you planning on telling Enterprise if it is stolen, or you are in an accident in Mexico? And you do know it is illegal to drive any vehicle in Mexico without Mexican insurance I presume?
Bottom line, it isn't your car. If you get in an accident, or get it stolen, expect monstrous fees to be added, even if you buy insurance at the border. Plus, since the rental agreement doesn't specify you can take it into Mexico, it is possible Mexico will not admit you, or worse yet, the US won't let you bring the car back!
