My 9 month old has eczema very bad, he scratches during the night and cries because it hurts. Steroid cream doesn't seem to be working. We need sleep...help! Please! It is red and swollen, I have pinned my arms around his arms so he won't scratch in bed with me...I keep putting aveeno on him as well.

Is the steroid cream hydrocortisone? Usually that helps with the itching but if it hasn't, you may want to put socks on his hands so he doesn't scratch himself so much. Eczema gets much worse when scratched because it oozes and opens the rash to bacteria. Something that might help is giving him a lukewarm bath before bed and then applying the hydrocortisone creme. I wouldn't suggest using the aveeno lotion just because I remember when I was young that even the most sensitive of lotions sometimes burned intensely and made me itch more when my mom forced me to use them on my eczema.
