Ok, so the high school team I hope to be on next year should be lots of fun, but there is one problem. The coaches are all bi*ches and REALLY horse abusive, the head coach is just dangerous, and doesn't care about safety at all. The jumping coach is VERY abusive to horses, and is really harsh. She also has no sense for safety (yes, I have trained with them both). Everyone who has been on the team has had the same experiences as me. I wouldn't do it if it wasn't for the reason that it is the only club I can join that i could enjoy. My question is, how can I keep my horse and I safe? How can I win my classes when the coaches are full of sh*t? Please, tell me what you think I should do?!?!?!

What do you define as abuse? It's really hard for me to give you my opinion without knowing exactly what they are doing. There must be some good reason as to why they were made to be head coaches. If there really is a dangerous issue, I would go to the principle, or whoever is in charge, and have a talk with them. Try to get a few other students to go with you, as there is strength in numbers. If the coaches continue to be unsafe and abusive, it's really not worth being on the team. You can always compete again in college.
The question you need to ask yourself is: What is more important? Winning, or your horses safety? Remember that the higher you go in the horse world, the more you WILL find situations like this. You have to decide, is it actually abusive, or is it just something you're not familiar with? I've seen David O Connor do some pretty crazy/harsh things, and he is incredibly tough on his riders. Use your own judgement and do what you think is right.
Personally, I would not put my horse in that situation. Are the coaches abusive to the school horses, or just to participants horses? Even if it is a club I would enjoy, I wouldn't want my horse to encounter abusive training methods. I would consider joining another club in order to save your horse!
DONT LEAVE THE HORSES TO SUFFER.
That is PURE horse mistreatment and ABUSE.
If you ignore it, then your probably a criminal yourself.
Video tape the evidence in secret, or catch them abusing the horse with some witnesses and tell the high school principle, tell your parents, TELL THE SPCA, OR TELL A ORGANIZATION THAT DEALS WITH THIS STUFF. JUST COMFRONT ANYONE ABOUT IT! NO HORSE SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE THAT, EVEN IF U LIKE IT OR NOT, THE COACHES WILL HAVE TO GET FIRED, BECAUSE ABUSING HORSES IS NOT GOOD AT ALL, AND IT WILL DESTROY A HORSES LIFE. GET HELP NOW.
I don't know why you would want to at all given what you know. How could you enjoy it if they are that abusive?
