I have had bronchitis for about a month now, and it's only getting worse. I went to the doctor when it first started and got antibiotics, but they didn't change how I felt. It seems like everyone in my school has had some kind of breathing problems, there have been a lot of kids having asthma attacks, four cases of pneumonia, and my myself and two of the teachers have bronchitis. How can I tell when it progresses into pneumonia, and how long does pneumonia take to go away? My friend has pneumonia, and has had it for 2 weeks now. She's back at school but can't participate in P.E., has to ride the elevator because the steps take her breath away, and is eternally coughing. She got x-rays done again yesterday.

generally its a xray or something to see it.
but.. we learnt about this technique at uni (im doing nursing)
its called the "99" technique.
if u stand with ur back to someone they put their hands on your shoulders, (closer to ur neck). You say 99 repeatively... they should be able to feel the vibrations... if u keep saying 99 as they feel down ur back u can sometimes tell if there is anything on the lungs. (as... as u get further down the back u shouldnt be able to feel the vibrations,(about half way) but if there is soemthing there then u can feel it for longer, as the vibrations dont travel as far thru air, compared to something solid or liquid.
It may not work, a xray would be much more conclusive, but this technique might show something?

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

You'll have a fever with pneumonia. The only way to diagnose is with an x-ray. Go back to the doc you may need a Z-Pac that's what I usually go on.
You might have Walking Pneumonia which is a lot more common. You might want to go ahead and go back to your doctor.
bronchitis is an inflamation of the bronchial track, pneumonia is fluid in the lungs, an x-ray can confirm this
go get a doctor's opinion. Only way to really tell is by an xray.
1 month is too long!
youll know when the doctor x-rays your lungs and spots fluid in them. that is pneumonia
