I have never owned a car before and I know nothing about them. I am looking in to buying a used car and found this jaguar for $2,500 and says 222,000 miles. What does that mean? Is that the number of miles already used or that I have left. And what happens when you run out of miles.

Buying a vehicle is a very important decision; several factors come into play when it comes the quality and the price of your vehicle. Mostly people believe that a car with lower mileage is always better that higher mileage, but this now true in all class. Sometimes the mileage on a car is just numbers and cannot be used as the sole factor in determining how much you will pay for a car.

The mileage on the odometer is the distance the vehicle has traveled so far.
Mileage does not 'run out'. You can keep accumulating mileage as long as you can afford to fix a car. Just be aware, on a Jaguar, that will likely be more money than most other cars.

This sure seems like a prank question! There is no way of knowing HOW LONG a car will lat! the JAGUAR is very sturdy and is mostly a EUROPEAN CAR. You did NOT list the year or model! I LIKE THEM a lot and know them quite well! BEFORE YOU BUY IT< take it to a EUROPEAN CAR PERSON for an evaluation! A GOOD ONE can tell the condition of expensive pars, like TRANS and ENGINE< STRUTS SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, Control Arms, Tie Rods, and EXHAUST parts! The PRICE is just right, as most people seem to want small SUVs these days with more electronics, etc on them! EVALUATE the brakes! OPEN THE HOOD and check the fluids for signs of SLUDGE in the engine or BURNING of the trans fluids! If this is from a dealership insists that ALL FLUIDS be changed using ONLY ZF fluids from EUROPE! They require ONLY GENUINE EUROPEAN GRADE FULL SYNTHETIC OIL as well but oil changes last for ONE YEAR or longer! 222,ooo miles indicates how many miles the car has ALREADY been driven! That is NOT all that much for a well kept EURO car! The GREAT thing about anything from europe is HOW LONG THEY CAN LAST! EUROPEAN CARS are the FINEST examples of auto technology usually, and the JAGUAR is no exception! A SKILLED EURO technician can open the hood and see in a few short seconds what condition it is recall in! GO TO A HOIST and check the suspension parts as BUSHINGS are the most vulnerable! The CONTROL ARM bushings can break from the use of common ROAD SALTS! The BOTTOM of the car is the most important ! I know MANY people with older JAGUARS that run PERFECT but require suspension parts, to make alignments HOLD! ANY QUALIFIED TIRE STORE can usually diagnose it QUICKLY and many times for FREE< so make an appointment $250 is NOT very much for a SUPERB EURO CAR! I see the and buy them all the time! They are made to get EASILY to about 500k miles if ONLY the right fluids are used! MOST OF THEM wil NOT rust where it counts! OPEN THE HOOD and look for signs of any RUST around the engine and front frame! Have the ENGINE and TRANS MOUNTS checked an also the DRIVE COUPLINGS as they are ALSO quite vulnerable to AGE, ROAD SALT and time itself! most jaguars USE TEH SAME trans AND steering N=MAKERS THAT benz, audi, bmw, porsche saab AND volvo USE! now ALSO DOES hyundai, kia< MANY fords AND some gm MODELS jeeps AND Chrysler CARS! all cars NEED ATTENTION FROM TIME TO TIME, AND NOTHING IS free! The most usual expenses will be USUAL EXPENSES WILL BE tires and brake pads! The rest requires a GOOD EXAM to be sure of condition!
Walk away from the car. That's a lot of mileage. You have no idea of the history of that car. I would worry about how well that car was taken care of. I would worry that parts of the car will need to be replaced soon or have already been replaced. If they have already been replaced, then I would worry that they are not good parts. I would also worry that it wouldn't pass smog check or it would die soon on me. Find a car with lower mileage.
Do you have a drivers license ? Have you every been in a car ? The first thing to remember is that most
used car dealers are looking for a person like you. with 222000 miles a Jag is about 10 miles from a junk yard, that is where old car go after there dead.
