in my history class, a girl in my group has mono and i'm kinda freaked out to work with her. i was just wondering how mono is spread, and how contagious it is.
mainly kissing, but if you use a fork/spoon or glass that was used by a person infected with (MONO) and the utensil was not washed well then you may also contract it.
Its mainly passed by kissing though, that's why its referred to as the kissing disease.
Mono is contagious, which means you can spread the virus to other people who haven't had mono before. Even though you can get mono from kissing someone infected with EBV, there are also other ways you can get it, but they all involve contact with saliva. Sharing pillows, straws, toothbrushes, or food from the same plate also spread mono.
mono has been referred to as the kissing disease because that is the usually way it is transmitted. Sharing a drink, cigarette, or anything else that exposes you to someone elses saliva can expose you.
mono is nicknamed the kissing disease. hopefully you don't think she's a major babe and spontaneously decide to start making out with her at your desks. don't share drinks and pray that she doesn't spit when she talks!

Same as every other virus out there, it is in the air. I might add that mono is not all that highly contagious and is often seen in isolated cases.
