I'm a 14 year old girl, and I absolutely love cats and kittens. My parents and I've had two before. The first one was a beautiful tabby. She was white with brown, black and yellow/golden orange spots. My parents had her before I was born, and when I was about 8 months old, unfortunately she got ran over by a car on our street. (We live on a corner, and it's sometimes busy). When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my dad's boss's cat had kittens, and he let us have one. I picked the one I wanted, and we soon learned that he was the runt of the litter. He was literally mentally retarded, but I still loved him despite the problems he had. After about a year and a half- two years, my parents took him to an adoption center. That was the last cat we had. My dad really loves cats, and so does my mum. Whenever I propose we should adopt a cat or kitten, they say 'not right now', or 'I don't know', or my dad will say, 'we don't do well with cats'. But I can tell he really wants one. If we did get it, these are the steps I would take and the things I would do:
-I would keep it as an indoor cat, to prevent it from being hit by a car. (I know some tips and tricks to keeping it indoors).
- I can help pay for the food, supplies, shots, etc. (I have money saved in my bank, and I am getting a summer job at my grandma's apartment, cleaning it once every week).
- I would clean the litter box and refresh its water/food when necessary.
- When we go away on holiday (not very often, a few times in the summer, but only for 2-5 days, and other times about an hour away to visit my family, and then come back the same night), I know lots of people that would look after the cat until we return.
- I would constantly love it, and make sure it's happy all the time.
I am an honour roll student at school, I am responsible, respectful and well behaved, etc.
If we were to get a cat, I would adopt from a local shelter/pet store, because every animal deserves a second chance at life and shouldn't have to be locked up with many other cats in a glass area where they can't escape unless someone adopts them.
I would really like to be successful at adopting a cat, and I will be so happy if we finally do. Please help, and I will pick a best answer! :) Thanks!

You can't
Your parents don't want another cat so there won't be another cat. They dumped the last one you have at an adoption center and it was more than likely humanly put down since no one wants a messed up cat.
Your parents said no, respect that and stop asking for a cat.
I don';t think you will like my answer. Sorry in advance
As far as I am concerned. All kids should have animals in their lives. It is very important.
That said, a minor cannot be responsible threfore the parents have to be.
You cannot be responsible simply because cats can live more then 20 years and you don't know where you will be 5 years from now 15 years from now. You may go to college travel fall in love
who knows? So your parents have to be the resposible ones. As far as that goes this is where I have the problem

What do you think happened to that cat?
Again sorry
I have been in your shoes. For starters, you can try to give them the list you gave us. It's very well put together. But make sure you mean it. (Would you reaaaaally clean the litter box every day?) If they still say no, you can try again every 6 months. I'd say they'd probably give in once your 16. You can't really say no when you become older and prove your responsibilities (being given more freedom, driving, later curfews, etc.). If they still say no, you're just going to have to wait. And trust me, it's worth the wait of having your own kitten who loves you more than life itself.
I know you won't want to hear this but you have to respect their decision. As an honor roll student, you are probably headed to a great college in four years, and you will probably be told you cannot take anything larger than a fish to college with you. And who will be left with your cat? Your parents. The #1 thing you DON'T want is to come home on a weekend and find they have given it away to a shelter because they don't want to take care of it when you're not home.
I promise you, it will be worth the wait. Good luck!
Investigate and spot if there's a foster cat application for your subject. This enables you to transitority condo a cat until area at a safe haven or a everlasting house can also be discovered. It takes an awfully mature man or woman to deal with an animal and then provide it up however you could possibly be helping save the lives of some cats. Your mom would come round if she is aware of it can be simplest transitority. Ultimately, she could decide that you just should have your possess.
All you can do is tell your parents what you just told us. It is then up to them to decide whether or not to get a cat. Respect whatever decision they make. If it's not the answer you're hoping to hear, take it with good grace. You can get a cat when you move out on your own. (That's what I had to do, and I survived, so can you.)
But be realistic: when you say "But I can tell he really wants one", you might be fooling yourself. Because if your dad really did want one, he'd already have one, wouldn't he?
Awesome story.. Your parents pay the bills and if they are not ready then the answer is no! You didn't go through what they did so just wait till your in your own house and get all the cats you want.
this is how I got my cat what to do is keep asking like ask at least once or twice a week and if ur mum or dad asks what u want for ur birthday or Christmas or something just say a cat and all u want is a cat x
find cool fact about them and how they can help you in life or good fact like they can do this and that ...get a cat that is good at every thing and show them how response able you are and they will buy u a cat
tell them you really want one and that itll help you in life
