Anything over 12 megapixels is superfluous. Even blown up to A3 size, 12megapixels would get you a resolution of about 250dpi, which is about what you would find in any glossy magazine.
Enprint size, 12 megapixels, let alone 18 megapixels, is well in excess of anything which is actually needed.
Above 5 or 6 the megapixel count is just a marketing exercise. At that point the quality of the optics and the electronics will have a far greater influence on picture quality.

Unless you're planning to blow your photo prints to more than poster size, 18MP is more than sufficient.
