Suggestion for you? Go to the Australian immigration department website and have a look at the requirements for immigration to Australia. You will discover that you must be qualified in a job that we have a skills shortage in before you will even be considered for immigration. You are lucky, because you are still in school you can work towards your goal.
Oh and to answer your question, Australia is a bloody WONDERFUL place to live, best lifestyle, best climate, best beaches, best social security system, best health care system (when compared to the US).......you name it, we've got it.
Australia is a great place to live and there is very little crime despite the shock jocks on the radio talking of "crime waves". I suggest you read "Down Under" by Bill Bryson, an American journalist and writer, which will give you an idea of some aspects of Australia.
To migrate here, you will need to fulfil the immigration requirements which are quite tough so if you haven't planned your education yet, try to do your study in an area that is in demand here and you will find it much easier to get in.
No one can really tell you what Australia will be like in 10 years or so. No one can tell you whether or not you will be able to qualify for migration neither, for the skills list is always changing.
What I would suggest you do is log onto the Australian Immigration web site and look around to see what the qualification are at this time and try to work toward this goal.
