No, gay marriage had nothing to do with politics, but with equal rights. Gay couples, who are tax paying citizens, wanted the same benefits as hetrosexuals. Many of these couples who lobbied for these rights had been living together for thirty or even fifty years, yet had few legal rights.
I don't think that is asking too much, and why would anyone care what two consenting adults in the privacy of their own home. They are born that way and that is just the way it is.
It's just a matter of equality. Marriage is simply the consensual and contractual union of 2 adults. In Canada some churches perform same sex marriages and some don't.
@Barnes. People don't marry their pets, they don't have multiple wives and they don't marry children.
No. It's regressive. It demeans the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. People will be wanting to marry their pets next. Oh, I forgot some want to.
No, it is just a bad idea to have government involved in marriage period. You get hitched in the courthouse you have a civil union, you get hitched in the church you get married. When Clinton signed the DOMA that was progressive

You would think that letting people live their own lives would be an American idea? Go figure.
No, it's a sinful idea.
