He's bi-racial, his mother, white (or Caucasian if you prefer) and his father, black (Africa comprises so many races and I don't know his father's, he was from Kenya; it's obvious from the way you wrote the N-word that that one isn't good).
Mulatto is a plantation slave term deriving from the Spanish word for mule. Probably better not to use, although the dictionaries haven't necessarily caught up with the culture.
EDIT: Guys, in the Census, it specifically asks for your race. Obama is half-white, half-black. Therefore, to answer this question, he is mulatto. He's biracial. Obviously if he's the president then he is American, otherwise he would not have even been an option for you to vote for. There are also Irish-Americans, French-Americans, etc, etc. All you people saying "he's American" are making yourselves sound beyond stupid, from my viewpoint.
It is stupid to even be concerned with what color an American is. The thing that should bind us together is the fact we are all Americans.
Maybe we should just drop all of the hyphens and just all be Americans instead of separating our selves into groups. Especially into groups that are based on something as stupid in the difference of color of skin.

By dictionary definition he is Mulatto.
He is a typical upper class white man who happens to be black.
Human beings are also not to be defined by their labels, though you seem to be unfamiliar with that fairly basic knowledge.
To be honest most blacks in the U.S ate mulatto. They look nothing like the real purples in Africa.
