Watching the debate I noticed, that McCain barely if at all looked at Obama. It seemed as though he didn't recognize he was there. In a debate you are supposed to look at your opponent. Obama did this several times, but McCain looked at the moderator pretty much the whole time. Why the cold shoulder?

First of all, to those blaming it on his shoulder..What? He can't turn his head? If that were so, he'd be very limited on his pleasurable activities, whatever they may be...golf, swimming, bowling..etc...Also, they were on a stage where he could easily have turned his whole body. What? Are his feet forever facing forward, too? Please, stop making lame excuses for the man. I've SEEN him turn his head in interviews.
To answer Perfect Stranger.....My personal opinion is he couldn't look at him out of guilt. McCain seems like a pretty decent guy down deep. Maybe not the most moral, but decent just the same. I truly believe he was feeling guilty because he knows the majority of his anti-Obama ads are full of BS and lies. I also think he doesn't dislike Obama and may feel embarrassed now that he is face to face with the man. Think about it...when a small child steals something and the parent takes them back to return the item and apologize..that child cannot look the person in the eye. Guilt. A wife confronts her husband about cheating. He can't look her in the eye while he denies it. Guilt. A kid cheats on a test. He can't look his teacher in the eye when caught. Why? Guilt. Makes perfect sense to me!
Great observation, btw.
A liar is uncomfortable facing his questioner/accuser and may turn his head or body away.
Why is it that Johnny McCain can’t seem to get himself to look at Barack Obama? He just can’t reach to that place deep inside and get himself to look him in the eye. When Obama challenges him at the debate, Johnny doesn’t look at him. When they shake hands to say hello, Johnny looks past Obama. And when Johnny uses his 5 minutes to state his view, he never once looks over at Obama.
But Obama always looks at Johnny. He doesn’t seem to have a fear of him.
But Johnny is afraid of Obama. Why? Is it because he knows that Obama knows that he’s been lying this entire campaign? That he’s a dark pit of deception? And that he’s made a mockery of the American voter?
Lack of eye contact is one sure sign of a dishonest liar. The number one thing to look for in detecting if someone is telling you the truth, is if they can look you in the eyes or not. Johnny McCain cannot.
Another sign of a liar is someone who gets defensive rather than offensive. Notice how McCain smirks and laughs mockingly when he disagrees with Obama. This is a defensive action. When Obama disagrees with McCain, he looks over at him, in the eye, and then states his claim. McCain only acts like a child.
A liar will also use humor and sarcasm to avoid a subject. Johnny McCain did that often tonight, attempting to make jokes out of something Obama had just said. Though he’s nowhere near close to a comedian, he succeeded at giving his lying self away. And a debate for the presidential spot is no time to act like a fifth grader.
McCain’s movements are extremely stiff, he makes inappropriate jokes at inappropriate times, and he cannot even look his opponent in the eyes. But he claims that he can look foreign dictators in the eyes and keep our country safe.
Johnny, you can’t even look yourself in the eye; who do you think you’re kidding?
I watch McCain give the look of "DEATH" when Obama mentioned tax cuts. McCain gave the country with a business tax rate of 11%
I noticed that, too. My guess is that he was attempting to discredit Obama by ignoring him, much like he did with his comments claiming Obama is naive. Another thing I noticed is that camera angles from McCain's right side revealed that he was repeatedly clenching his jaw. His jaw muscle looked like it was on a TENS unit. LOL My biggest disappointment of the night is that Obama did not get McCain to demonstrate his hot-headed temper. Maybe next time.
McCain was either feeling guilt or contempt. With all of his handlers, you would think someone would have suggested some psychological treatment. The man obviously has a lot of personal issues and unresolved anger.
sure, I did word that. Obama made eye contact with the moderator, the digital camera/target audience, and tried to with McCain, who not in any respect regarded at him once. even at the same time as McCain in certain circumstances gestured such as his arm, it replaced into in the alternative course. i concept that replaced into very disrespectful and immature.
Heck! We're lucky McCain even showed up to the debate let alone look Obama in the eye. lol!
Scared? Shy? Beats me. Jim told the two to talk to each other, not to him but McCain thinks otherwise.
McCain's strategy is to dehumanize and demonize Obama. Whatever happenned to McCain's honor I don't know.
It's difficult to make eye contact with someone you've told so many lies on.
