I had my AFP done 2 weeks ago, came out positive. I had an ultrasound today at 17 1/2 weeks. Thank GOD The ultrasound shows everything normal. Now their telling me my placenta is covering my cervix. Which if it doesn't move they won't let me deliver vaginally. This is my second child my first was normal and everything went good. I knw I should of asked my doctor all these questions but I didn't so I'm hoping someone on here has experienced this and what was the outcome. I'm schedule to go back in 2months to see if it has moved and so on, I'm hoping it moves. can I be active like usual or should I be on bed rest? I really dnt want a csection is there anything u can do so it can move? Thanks would mean a lot to me.

Hi honey,
I know it's difficult but don't worry, stressing if you can its bad for you and baby.
Keeping active will help your health as will resting up and de-stressing but it won't help with placenta positioning.
There isn't anything you can do to change a low lying placenta as far as I know however most move position of their own accord before babies arrival.
I had two natural births and one c-section which before hand was terrifying but thinking about it rationally I knew the doctors were putting mine/babies health and safety first before preference( i realized once it was over I panicked for nothing.)
Good luck!
Its a low lying placenta. When I went for my 20 weeks ultrasound my doctor told me everything was perfect excpet my placenta was low and I'd have to have an ultrasound done at 33 weeks to see if its moved up if not they'd have to do a c section cause delivering the placenta first would be dangerous. I'm not too worried this is actually common and my doctor said 9/10 times it moves up! So don't worry about it, my nurse actually said she had it with all 3 pregnancy and it moved up every time!
that is named a placenta previa. I truthfully have in no way had one yet i understand plenty approximately them. At this element on your being pregnant that's early to rigidity approximately it. The placenta slides alongside the edge of your uterus and doesnt stay interior a similar spot. opportunities are high that it will struggle by using the time you pass into hard artwork. The Dr. will in basic terms video demonstrate you a sprint nearer. They dont decide for the placenta to return out first in hard artwork on account that's the infants existence source. in case you ever adventure any bleeding for the duration of your being pregnant inspite of the undeniable fact that verify you call your dr. right this moment. Dont worry it is going to prove superb.
I am not a doctor, but a retired navy corpsman. With what little I do know that that baby can be delivered by c-section. I believe the condition is called myseva gravus.
Since the placenta is implanted in the uterus, it doesn't actually move, but it can end up farther from your cervix as your uterus expands.
