MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT I DON'T WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT, I HAVE WORKED TOO HARD ON IT. THANKS

LOL, NFP sounds like a spontaneous method!
I have tried pills, the Implanon implant and now using the Mirena. (I started on the pill at 16 due to painful periods, Implanon when the pills affected my libido, then finally the Mirena because after a couple of years I was bleeding all the time on Implanon). I LOVE the Mirena. I have no bleeding at all and is highly affective. I have an even mood all the time, no PMS, no libido problems. The Implanon and Mirena are extremely effective in preventing pregnancy (failure rate is not that high, especially when you compare it to other methods). I've never had kids, but was still able to have it as I had tried everything else. I feel really good on it, and trust it totally. At first I was a little freaked out, thinking it might fall out (which can happen, but is rare. There is also the risk of perforation, but this is rare too) but now I've settled using it, I'm very happy and don't even think about it. It's really worth a try, especially if you've tried other thinks. And the hormones are realised directly into your uterus (whereas on a pill I was taking, I felt really depressed. The chemicals in the mirena are the same as the ones in that pill, but now that it's not going through my whole body, it has no effect on my mental state). I also haven't gained any weight.
First, slow down on the caps. It's the internet form of yelling.
You siad you've tried the calendar with condoms and that you can't really trust it? Well, which method did you use? If you were using what many think of as the calendar method, i.e., the rhythm method, then of course you can't trust it!
The rhythm method is based on the very dangerous myth that all women ovulate on day 14 of their cycle, and that's simply not the case. Its use has led to more unplanned pregnancies than no use of birth control at all!
If you do natural family planning (NFP), also known as the fertility awareness method (FAM) CORRECTLY, then it's more trustworthy than any artificial form of birth control.
Listen. Mirena is an IUD that releases the artificial hormone levonorgestrel that does not occur naturally in the body. It's the same artificial hormone used in the pill and the shot. The use of these artificial hormones can lead not only to the weight gain that you mentioned, but also heavier periods (as opposed to the often braggeda bout lighter ones), more acne, ovarian cysts, and even death. Artifiical hormones can also allow the occasional breakthrough ovulation. That's where the other function of the IUD comes in.
In addition to the release of levonorgestrel, Mirena, like all IUDs, bounces around, scratching up and irritating your natural uterine lining. This prevents any released egg that happens to get fertilized from implanting in the lining, thus causing an early abortion. In other words, Mirena KILLS!
This scratching can also lead to the very painful problem known as endometriosis, as well as pelvic inflamatory disease, an an increased risk of ectopic pregnancies.
Your main concern seems a bit off to me. It shouldn't be about your weight, but about safety, and Mirena, along with the possibility of weight gain, is VERY unsafe.
If you properly use FAM/NFP, it will NOT cause you to gain weight, and you CAN trust it far more than you think you can. It also costs much less and has ZERO possibility of nasty side effects.
All of these dangers are exactly why I DON'T use Mirena or any other artificial form of birth control.
Any artificial form of birth control is going to have an ongoing and ever increasing cost. That's not true with FAM/NFP. The only costs are those at start-up: a book and/or class, and a basal body thermometer. The software is optional, but I purchased it and it's made everything MUCH easier for me.
What many women object to is the fact that yes, it takes a few moments in the morning to take and record your basal body temperature before you've done anything else. But those few moments each morning are VERY worth it in order to avoid all the nasty side effects of dangerous artificial methods!
It can also help you predict your periods, and you'll know your own body MUCH better.
When used properly, FAM/NFP has a 99.9% success rate, as opposed to a 15% success rate when using the rhythm method. That means FAM/NFP has a higher success rate than any artificial method!
Trust me. Learn how to utilize FAM/NFP properly. Your body will thank you for it!
I have used :
Pill =no side effects besides breast growth
Patch= Had horrible clots and heavy bleeding (changing Pad every hour)
Depo= gained 50 pounds in 9 month
Mirena
Got my 1st on in 2002 after a wonderful experience I had a new one inserted in 2007 when it expired. After only 10 months on it I had horrible pack pain, acne, weight gain (45 pounds to be exact with no lifestyle change). I went and saw 3 Doctors who all said it was not related to Mirena and that removal would be ridiculous. I searched online and found many woman in the same boat with many more symptoms that I was experiencing that was like wow. So I saw the 4th Dr and just said I wanted it removed no explanation just I want it removed. I had it removed and went back to he pill. Within hours of removal my back pain and nausea were gone. With in 2 months the acne and weight was almost all off (yes the weight came off that quick again with no lifestyle change) I thought about the fact that I had been on hormones half of my life (16-25)
Me and my partner of 9 years and father of my children decided to give FAM a try. First of all I am determined to not have another child right now so I did my research prior to switching. I spoke to many woman who have used this method and been both successfully and unsuccessful. I read every book under the sun and honestly thought this would be a good option for us. We have now been using this method for over 6 months and LOVE IT. My periods are so predictable. There is no stress over could I be pregnant? Because I know it is not a possibility at all. We completely avoid intercourse or use condoms, spermicide and pull out until ovulation has occurred and then its fair game because once you have ovulated you will not ovulate again until your next cycle. I use Fertilityfriend.com to help chart my temp. People look at me weird when I tell them my method BUT the way I see it is if I can remember to take a pill everyday I can remember to temp every day and cross Reference other sign.
I felt the same way as you about the hormone options. I wanted nothing to do with hormones anymore. So, I just abandoned hormones altogether and went with the Paragard IUD. I am very happy with it. Another nice thing about the Paragard is that it can last up to 10 years.
No need to shout about it....LOL
I have had the Mirena for 7 years now, so its my second one.
I have no problems and have not gained weight using it.
I got mine inserted due to heavy painful periods, and i only have spotting on my period days....
I highly recommend it.
