I had a tibial tubercle transfer done on my left knee on July 26th of this past year. (I'm only 17) and its still bothering me constantly. I've been going to physical therapy 3 times a week since the end of August and I'm not seeing anymore improvement. If anything I think its starting to backtrack. Is there a possibility that it didn't work? Any advice?

It really depends on what kind of damage was done to the knee prior to the tibial tubercle transfer on your left knee. It could take up to a year to see improvements on a tibial tubercle transfer on the left knee. I assume that your kneecap was out of alignment and the had to put screws in to stabilize your knee from dislocating again.
From my personal experience I had the Tibial Tubercle Transfer (with a lateral release), along with a chondroplasty (shaving of the kneecap because of cartilage damage and osteoarthritis) on both my left and right knee. With having the Tibial Tubercle procedure done on both knees, I did see some improvement of knee stability, but the pain in both knees did not go away because I already have advanced stages of osteoarthritis and chrondromalica in both knees. I was born with both of my knees out of alignment, and it went unnoticed until I started having pain about 3 years ago and by that time it was to late, the arthritis was really bad, I am only 23 years old.
I was in rehab for almost 2 years with the left knee and 1 year with the right. The recovery and rehab process is a long one, since it defiantly is a major knee procedure. In my personal opinion, since you had the procedure done July 26, and started rehab at the end of August, I would still wait a little bit since the recovery and rehab process is a long one. Hopefully they caught it early enough for you!
I know it could feel like you are backtracking in your progress, its a long recovery, hang in there! I know exactly what your going through!
Best of luck in your rehab and recovery!
Tibial Tubercle Transfer Recovery
I would not advocate and I'm an orthopedic health practitioner. I generally participate in an arthroscopic lateral unlock and an open medial imbrication for this predicament. Really is determined by your xrays even though. That style of method to me is remember final inn no longer the primary choice.
Talk to your physical therapist about it. He may be able to give you answers.
