It would avoid confusion all round if the month had to be written as the first three letters. Essentially both are incorrect if they can be so easily misread...
...and so the year too, 2k should prefix it for the rest of this millenium, impossible to mistake for anything else in the calendar.
we just do. When I lived in Italy it was written in Day,Month, Year I think. I don't really know why but I dont think this really does anything for life. Maybe we just wanted to be different?

It's the same in most of Europe too.
because they're taught to do everything backwards, and call items by the wrong name, i;e they call petrol, gas, petrol is a liquid gas is not!!!!
That's Americans for you, they also have trouble spelling too!
