Rich hollywood stars and other millionare sport stars and such endorse a candidate and people get into a ruckus. Does it occcur to people that by YOUR endorsement of their movies ,games and products is what made them wealthy in the first place? We made these people who they are. Why do people value them so and how does this add or take away from a candidates value? It doesn't but yet it takes up time and space in the media when we really should be checking on the candidates themselves.
On another note, if the Republicans are about the rich, what about all the rich hollywood folks? Most of them are Democrats,, hmmmmmmmm.

I know a number of people who want to "keep up with the Joneses," and that means always adjusting their opinions to be in line with what is "popular" and what "the nation" thinks. These are people who rarely read the paper and do almost no critical thinking for themselves, and who vote based on who they think can win based on a newspaper endorsement or their favorite celebrity. These people typically look for a crowd to fit into and want to retire middle-class with the exact same house as their neighbor, etc.
But being right and voting for the right things is becoming increasingly unpopular these days. Too many people would rather avoid the bullying and taunts of the "in crowd" and just vote their way, than stand up for themselves, challenge existing "pop culture" and vote for themselves and their families and their nation.
It is a dangerous trend to follow George Clooney's idea of how America should conduct diplomacy because he played a doctor on ER and he has a handsome face and smoked dope on the show, or played a Green Beret or a CIA agent on the big screen. It is a dangerous trend to vote with Matt Damon because he plays a disgruntled CIA agent and therefore must know a lot about the inner workings of the intelligence community because he knows karate on the big screen and hangs out with Ben Affleck. It is a dangerous trend to nod your head with Rosie and assume that the Bush administration destroyed the WTC because, after all, Rosie is the "Queen of Nice" and friends with Tom Cruise who tells us what drugs to take and how to deal with our problems because he played Maverick on "Top Gun" and knows what he is talking about. Or has a nice face.
When the media announces that a movie star has endorsed a candidate, they are telling people who are too lazy to keep up with the issues how to vote and why.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the Hollywood types get the free air time to discuss issues their mostly tiny little brains can't fathom. They regurgitate some Democrat sound bytes, fling a few insults at conservatives, when for the most part, they have less knowledge than I do about the issues and about how this country works.
These people are basically pandering to the idjit vote. Those who's IQ is below 100, and are prone to the bandwagon technique of persuasion. Most of the people they hear in the media are pro democrat and anti republican, if anyone of those resonated with a voter, it another vote either for the Democrats or against the Republicans, either way the result is the same.
Completely agree .... Why should someone else's endorsement affect the way I think --- No it will not! I have the intelligence to make up my own mind about which candidate I like!
Also, since you bring up Hollywood ... why do they think they know so much about politics or even some "cause" (like save the whales!)?? It makes me sick when they open their mouths about such things!
Because they can't think for themselves half the time.
The other times it's usually something to do with their own interests and beliefs. If one organization or owner of a company that they may be linked to is voting for a certain person - it could be in their best interest to do the same depending on their circumstances and what they want to get from the candidate.
It is traditional for "bollywood" stars to endorse Democrats, they are all as far "left" as you can swing. Personally it makes me sick. If Oprah stands up and says I like Clinton, half of America starts sitting up and wagging they're tails oh oh oh yes Clinton, well if Oprah likes her.....sadly no one wants to make up there own minds especially when politics are concerned! follow the crowd mentality....then when they don't like what's going on....it's the elected official to blame, not the votes that put them in office, it's just another liberal whine tactic. Bollywood sucks up to politics and liberalism, with few exceptions! Even if they don't understand what the heck is going on!
It's not so much famous people but corporations, usually when big money corporations endorse candidates it's for a reason that will benefit them.... and not the majority... Corporations, Corruption and Government go hand in hand...
