So far I haven't made up my mind who I'll support and vote for.
So, I thought I might get something from one of you. Please tell me why you support Barack Obama.
Please don't compare to McCain; he gets his own question. I need to know about him, not his competetor.
Thank you, =)
Update:The_libertyman,
How do you know I'm uninformed exactly? Did I say that I didn't know ANYTHING?
I'm an independant. No one party clicks for me. Each has it's benefits and drawbacks.
To add. I thought this was a fun question to ask. I'm tired of all the ranting about the other candidate.
So shove it, my dear friend. =)

Well, this is a very broad question. Much depends on what issues are important to you.
For me my main issues are the economy, the environment, education, personal freedoms. This is how Obama breaks down for me.
On the economy, Obama wants to pull out of Iraq, this will save us about 10billion a month, some of this will go into increased spending in Afganistan, the rest will go to support other programs and to decrease our borrowing from China and the middle east. Our dollar has fallen to historical lows, primarily because we are in such debt to other countries, the low value of the dollar increases the costs for everything we import, and basically everything but food (except for out of season fruits and veggies that come from S. America and elsewhere).
On the environment, Obama would take actions to reduce our effect on Global climate change. As a democrat he would like act to protect wilderness and hopefully provide the economic support to land management agencies so that they can do their job.
I know that Obama supports education, but I am not sure what his proposal are. In general democrats are for making school more affordable, and improving funding so that we can be more competitive.
On personal freedoms, I for the right of women to choose and democrats are in general. I think that government should stay out of creating laws or policies that affect what someone does to their body, or in their bedroom. I have no problem with gay marriage as it does not affect me. Their are economic benefits for marriage, and I see no reason to deny those benefits to gay people. I am a gun owner and feel that support the right to bear arms, I am not sure Obama policy on this. However, we do not need to be able to own fully automatic machine guns for self defense, and would be concerned if those weapons got into the wrong hands.
For me since I align more closely with democratic philopsophies I will be voting for Obama. Hope this helps.
I am not decided but I am leaning towards Obama. We still have a long way to go.
Although you said not to compare the candidates that is the basis for making a choice.
Both McCain and Obama are fairly moderate which I like. Obama is a much better speaker and has the ability to unite our allies around the world. McCain probably can't do this. Bush has really hurt the reputation of the U.S. and opinions of our country and people.
I feel Obama has a better understanding of Economics than McCain. This is obviously important in these poor economic times. McCain actually admitted he does not understand economics well.
It is too early to be stubborn and decide on a candidate though. We don't even know who the Vice President would be yet. This is very important for McCain who lets face it is very old and there is a good chance he may not last 4 years at least not to his fullest abilities.
I also support Universal Health Care which Obama supports. Obama just seems sharper over all to me.
These among other reason why I am leaning Obama.
at the beginning, Iraq isn't in a large number. as a remember of actuality, they have greater funds than we do. they're at present taking area in a surplus (do no longer take my be conscious for this...look it up.). What extremely does not make experience is why Bush isn't on trial for mendacity to the common public with regard to the lacking WMD's. Clinton gets a BJ, and he gets impeached, yet Bush screws up each thing, and no-one bats an eye fixed. The Irony. Afghanistan is supposedly have been Osama bin encumbered is, which, if I remember properly (you realize, cuz the information hadn't observed him in see you later) orchestrated 9/eleven, is meant to be hiding (in some cave with a dialysis device). thus far as going back to Iraq, the U. S. wouldn't have been there interior the 1st place. Saddam Hussein had no longer something to do with 9/eleven, and in actuality hated Al-Qaeda. of direction, Obama ought to no longer make issues greater ideal, yet that must be a reason human beings help him. i do no longer. Neither do I help McCain, the two.
Because he's an optimist and strives to bring the good out in people rather than continuing to divide by hate and fear.
Because he's an excellent manager and willingly admits he doesn't know everything and will consult and get advice from those who do have the knowledge (like today's economic meeting). Republicans and Democrats alike admit he has one of the best run campaign machines ever.
Because he's willing to tackle healthcare.
Because he's for the middle class, not just the wealthy.
Because his America is inclusive, not exclusive.
He's Pro-Choice.
He's a Democrat.
He has come from a struggling family and knows what it is like to struggle and succeed.
He believes in education as a way for people to climb out of poverty and should be accessible to all.
He is able to easily work with all types and groups of people.
There's more but these are some of my reasons.
I believe that as a Democrat he will be the best person to restore our ecomony. It seems that the Republican party lowers taxes, but spends more causing high inflation and devaluation of the dollar. Obama is pro-choice. I believe in his stance on the war in Iraq. I feel that he is a more down to earth person than McCain and the most well spoken candidate.
I am not an Obama supporter but was reading some answers to try to understand why people are voting for him.
But I found out that you are a liar. You are a very young Obama supporter. Your mind is already made up.

I support Obama because he stands for change. What kind of change?
A change to income taxes that favor the poor, not the rich.
A change of philosophy: those who disagree with you need to be talked to involved, not called names.
A change to the discourse: enough with silly mud-slinger. Let's discuss the issues that are important to Americans.
A change to foreign policy: let's not engage in strategically useless wars.
A change in America: let's make Americans care again. And let us throw aside what divides us, and instead embrace what makes us all Americans.
Coming here to gather info for your decision is a little silly. All you'll get is ranting and raving about 1. why george bush is the devil and why mccain is bush or 2. why obama is stalin.
just open your mind and listen to the candidates themselves.
EDIT: 1. Note all the thumbs down on my non-partisan answer. Point proven. AND 2. I do love someone named "libertyman" who tries to take away your right to vote. that's some gooooood stuff!
He is a bright light in a sea of blackness that has become our US government. He is new and not a lifetime politician...I believe his desire to make this a better country...and aside from others running...he sees that the course we are on is not a good one, and staying on it will only make us weaker, more hated, and more desperate. His slogan is correct...he is a change we so desperately need.
I will never support Hussein Obama
