I've been looking for a horse to buy for quite some time now. I ran across an ad a couple days ago on Horsetopia.com, and it was advertising a friesian being given away to a home that will take good care of him. I emailed the owner, asking a few questions about his ride-ability and health. Se responded by telling me what a wonderful horse he is, fine for beginners, great at dressage, etc. Of course that one sounded too good to be true, and it turns out that she's in Portland. She told me she would be willing to send this horse to me. I can't help being a little leery, but now as I was looking through horses again I found an ad stating that they had a Friesian gelding for sale. I emailed asking how much he wanted, if he's fine for childen, etc. Once again I got an email saying how wonderful this horse is. It seemed fishy enough when I noticed how the emails were similar just in what they wrote, but now the email addresses are similar too! both have the owners first and last name with a two digit number after @yahoo.com. Weird, right? I was wondering what you guys though about this. It seems so strange! I just can't imagine what kind of scam artist would want to say it's free! usually they want money from people! Have you heard of any scams going on that may be linked to this?
Thanks for reading all of that! (:

good horses arent free and people who give horses away for "free" are bad horse owners because "free" horses are easily taken by scam meat/kill buyers. they are the ones who go for free horse which is why it is best to always sell a horse for atleast the amount per pound meat is going for so their is no profit for kill buyers. Most rescues in my area charge the horse adoption fees based on the going rate per pound of meat. stay away from FREE horse seriously also I agree with the poster that said the scam is wanting you to pay upfront shipping. dont email these folks stay far away from them. good luck finding a new horse
Some horses are simply very delinquent. It could also be very viable that the pony used to be no longer appropriately gelded and is proud reduce (there used to be additionally a factor going round that a few geldings develop elements in their testes having gelding, however I have no idea if that is quite real or no longer). But I have ridden a couple of horses so that they can tolerate different horses at the same time they're being ridden, after which while they're grew to become out holiday down fences, and so on., simply to head beat up one more horse. There is not even whatever bodily flawed with them, however they're very territorial. I might count on that this horse is proud reduce, when you consider that the conduct he's displaying may be very stallion-like.
It is a scam. Lots of Friesian scams going around right now. They get you by having you pay upfront for shipping that doesn't happen. But it is kindof fun to play along for a bit to get the shipping details. They generally make the horse sound like it is a FedEx package or something LOL.
Many people due to the economy are giving away horses or selling them extremely cheap. I used to have a horse and my parents let me know it wasn't cheap taking care of it and I never was able ride it so we sold it. We sold it for much less than it was worth but we didn't want getting stuck with it. The barn I ride at is going to give away one of its horses because they don't need it and its extremely expensive to have a horse you don't need. The person is probably trying to get it off their hands and is willing to give it to a good home, unfortunately many people are doing this these days. Just to be safe though, email them and ask why they are getting rid of it. Good Luck.
