Before you ask or wonder, yes I am an American. No I don't plan to use proper grammar. No I'm not trolling.
Anyway I'm seriously curious, as to why, we as a nation overall, are obese, stupid, ignorant and completely blind to the truth. I understand that since we are infants we are spoon fed bullshit from the TV, our parents, our government and the likes, but seriously, come on this is just ridiculous. Not only out of the "advanced nations" are we pretty much at the bottom of the list, we are dropping even farther! We are slowly getting dumber and dumber, and despite this, the government and politicians keep trying to make education cuts or worse yet, stupid education programs that only reward the "already" knowledgeable. They always say one person can make a difference, but Id like to see a good answer as to what, I as a citizen of my country can do about this. Its ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. Most countries are forced to learn 1-2 extra languages from English, to any other. Yet we offer it as an "option" when, as an example, Spanish is WIDELY spoken in some communities and cities. Why not enforce bilingual learning. Along with this, there are people who STILL doubt evaluation even with all the evidence to support it. They sit here, and just absorb this spoon feed bullshit from day 1 and never question it... why? How can parents let there kids go through this and slowly watch our education system die. Sure there are SOME intellectuals, and sure we did have SOME good inventions throughout time, but im not asking for super scientist and geniuses, just people who aren't freaking stupid beyond belief.
So what do you think... Why is America so dumb?

And how is it not proven. To this day and age, humans are slowly being born without certain parts. i.e. Wisdom teeth, People in the new age are slowly being born without wisdom teeth, more and more. Is that not signs of a slowly evolving nature? You can look at the human skull from the Egyptians and back to the prehistoric ages and compare them to the Human skull now and see VAST differences in size and shape. How is that not "evolution"? These are only a few examples. I'm not saying its been widely accepted as proof, but there is a VAST amount of evidence that back up evolution.

I like to think of it as there being two Americas, perhaps George W Bush was right in calling them the haves and the have nots, but really it should be a case of wider knowledge. I recall being at University in England and I only ever met hard working thoughtful Americans even when there were a lot of dumb folk at my University. These are the people that make America truly great, without getting into the politics of it all, they are the ones that truly understand America's effect on the wider world.
I recall an email I received when George W was re-elected in 2004, it said, "we're sorry, we tried, - half of America" Although I have no political leanings in regard to the US political system I was never a fan of G.W. Bush, and I think that this haflf of America whether entirely together on it, understood the sentiment that we had towards him.
He embodied the very best and worst of being an American (as we see it from outside). He was the John Wayne cowboy from the movies but also had the element of country 'hick' about him.
I would never think of him as being a statesman and in many respects I dont feel many people will.
The US education system is far to focussed on sports (I realise this is where the funding is) but this makes me wonder exactly how many potential college students miss out because they dont play basketball. I know a lot of smart people excell at sports but a lot of strugglers get through, in every other country in the world, they would have dropped out of school and concentrated on a career in sports not pushed though the education system.
I do however feel that America is great, Im from Yorkshire in England and i'm proud of it but I know that in a strange way if I'd have grown up on your side of the atlantic, I would be just as proud of that. We hide the dumb folk where i'm from, they give them free houses and free money and for the most part they keep quiet, In the US they'd be after making a quick buck and getting in the way. Maybe its just a perception of being dumb and really much like the rest of the world there's smart people and dumb people and its just the way it is.
I'm not sure what 'evaluation' is, but i think you meant evolution. Evolution has no evidence. It's not even a theory, because a theory has to be recreated. And i think the school systems are part of the problem. I go to a Christian High School, but i went to the local public school for a while and the public school was so ridiculous. The public school classes were sooo easy compared to the ones i was used to. I went there as a junior and they were teaching me things i had learned years before. I even took some honors classes, thinking these might at least be at the same level. Nope. Still easier. And i'm not like a super genius or anything. I get mostly A's, maybe a B. And I think that probably half of the students there took drugs. And with over 600 kids in a class, how are you ever supposed to get individualized attention? Or even someone to answer your question?
