I was involved in an accident a couple of months ago, and had no insurance at the time. I appeared in court as was stated on the ticket for the infraction. At my first appearance I was told I was eligible for a deferral. I stated I was interested in this option ,of course, so was ordered to appear again for the pretrial conference. I appeared at the pretrial conference and was told I would be receiving the deferral information in the mail and to sign the agreement and mail it back with the money. I received the packet in the mail, however, my license was suspended already by the BMV as I was unable to provide proof of insurance for the date of the accident. The vehicle is insured now, but on the accident date it was not. I looked at my viewable driver record online and the infraction and suspension are there stating I am eligible to reinstate my license in January if I repay the reinstatement fee to the bmv and of course provide an SR50. My question now is what is the benefit of the deferral???? It appears my driver record is already tarnished from this mistake and from what the bmv's information states I am going to have to definitely pay the bmv to reinstate my license. I just do not see the point in the deferral? Or if the deferral is granted will it be removed from my record? I live in Indiana.

I live in Indiana and both my husband and step son got a deferral, but was for a speeding ticket. What happens is that you pay the ticket and if no more tickets in 6 months, then it never shows on your license, which in our state will show everything for 10 years, which means when someone has a ticket (no deferral), date of ticket and open/closed.
SR 50 is proof of insurance and most likely you will also need a SR 22. With these, if you fail to pay your premium on your insurance and it lapses, then the insurance company is required to notify IN DMV, and then they will suspend your license for failure to keep insurance.
Of course since at the time of this accident, you had no insurance, so NO company can provide proof and you were uninsured. I am guessing you were not at fault for this accident, since if you were, then you would have to show proof you paid for the damages/injuries due to your negligence.
So, it is possible that until the 6 months run and you show proof of insurance, this "may" not go on your drivers license record, or drop off, due to the referral. This is only a guess.
Fact assess, my buddy. The republicans in government don't care what confident matters Obama has executed. They only want him out and their guy in, in any respect fee! Senator Mitch McConnell stated naturally about Republicans, "Our quantity 1 priority politically is to ensure Obama is a one-time period president." Do you recognize the ramifications of that announcement? They seek to lay blame on Obama for the whole thing. They seem to shuttle him up then blame him for tripping. It's a installed to make him fail, and they would see the country endure in an effort to get Obama out. They sincerely want the financial system to remain unhealthy, with persons out of work, just so they are able to get a republican in the white apartment. That's why I don't trust them.
