My mother in law made me a beautiful diaper cake for me when I had my baby shower, it was really nice, filled with toys, soaps, lotions, etc. I was thinking about making one for my friend for her upcoming baby shower. Do you think that would be a good enough present to give to her? I have never made one before, are they hard to make? I have looked online for some ideas on what to put in it, didn't really find any good ones? Any ideas, suggestions??

It's a great idea. Go to the following website and they have a list of the "ingredients" and a "recipe" to follow, as well as a video tutorial.

I got one at my baby shower and thought it was great. I absolutely loved it. I was wondering why I was asked what kind of diapers I was going to be using but after seeing that I knew why. And she added lots of awesome "decorations" too. She made little 'lollipops" and "candies" out of wash cloths, put a few pacifiers, lotion, shampoo, soap, baby wipes, etc. It was so cute.
I think it would be a good enough present because you're giving her other things she'll need too as the "decorations."
yeah that would be a great present, just be sure to leave the diapers in a usable condition. My friend received one and it had pin holes and stuff like that where she was trying to decorate it so she won't use them. I wish someone would have made me one for my baby shower, i think they are awesome and unique gifts!
I agree with momsey, cloth diapers make perfect burp cloths anyways, at least throw some of those in.
But I would have loved one at my baby shower so many years ago, gosh I'm getting old come to think of it.
I am making one for my friend and I hope it is a good enough gift because it is really adding up in cost. Try looking at youtube.com. They had some great ideas and had some clips showing how to make little flowers out of socks and baby washclothes.
I received one and thought it was really chintzy. There were 42 newborn diapers, a rattle, 2 pairs of booties, a bib, baby washcloths, and a few sample sized baby lotions, powder, et cetera.
Make sure she wants disposable diapers! We cloth diaper and some people gave us disposables at my shower that I just ended up giving away. I would have preferred if they bought me a couple of cloth diapers!
Win-win!! I would even say that if you had any leftover that have been opened, you could make one of those little diaper cakes with them! If you wanted to you could still do it with the upopened packages.
I make them for my GF's showers they look great and are useable I use swaddlers, and either scotch tape or rubber bands so they are easy to use. oher than the ribbon i make sure everything is useable. washclothes socks mittens diaper rash cream, rattles, ect. they are so much fun to give and get!
